He was born in 1957 in Erzincan as the second son of a military family. He completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara and his high school education at Kuleli Military High School in İstanbul. He quit his military academic education at the Ankara Military Academy after three years and left the school and the army in 1977. In 1978, he continued his education by entering the Faculty of Architecture of Mimar Sinan University, which was then the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. During his university years, he mainly dealt with arts such as deep relief and lead stained glass. After his graduation, he worked as a freelance architect for 2 years in the Kalkan district of Antalya. In 1988, despite six years of military training, he joined the Navy as an 8-month short-term soldier to fulfill his military service. After his discharge, he got married and settled in Istanbul. Until 1997, he was engaged in the production and trade of unique products of his own design in the fields of furniture, home accessories and textiles. In the same period, he designed an automatic stamping machine for the use of notaries and produced it for a limited amount.
Since March 1997, at the insistence of Faruk Türnz, a friend from his university years, he started to work with him in the oud production business. Over years, he has developed new methods to ensure a western type standardization in oud production. He designed auxiliary equipment for the implementation of these methods, produced them and realized their applications. This vision brought a steady increase in production in terms of quality and production speed, and the business gained a serious momentum; It succeeded in gaining worldwide recognition and reaching a very important level in oud production.
From the start, he embraced the idea of raising a team rather than a master and an apprentice relationship. Over the years, he has trained young instrument makers who produce oud, guitar, tanbur, violin and classical kemence.
As one of the founders of Luteart in the summer of 2018, he continues to work with her innovative and systematic vision in her new workshop.
